Marina Aureli - Biography

A singer-songwriter, a graduate in Modern Languages and Literature, who developed her skill through working with international musicians.

Although she was born in Italy, she started singing in English at the age of five. When she was still a child, she began playing the guitar in order to accompany herself as well as to entertain her family. At the age of eight she took guitar and dancing lessons, but also attended a drama school and started studying singing.

After getting her high school diploma, she matriculated but kept on nourishing her passion for music singing international songs in rock-blues bands or taking part in semi-professional festivals. From 1991 till 1992 she sang in a jazz band composed of eighteen professional musicians performing in a variety of situations. That experience marked the beginning of a new phase in her life, during which she joined various international bands in order to record CDs, videos, and television shows.
In 1996 she sang in a duo whose aim was to play acoustic versions of American pop songs. In the same year together with musician Sergio Scola, she joined an international cover group, called The Black Beat, with whom she was able to improve her vocal skill being inspired by the charming arrangements of the introspective guitarist. Such an experience, which was marked by performances in Italian as well as in European clubs, culminated in a low-budget record production.

In May 2000 she graduated with full marks and honours from University of Milan, where she had studied English and Portuguese. Afterwards, together with guitarist Sergio Scola, she started writing songs in English, which she hopes will enrich the extremely variegated world of music.

Between 2003 and 2009 together with Sergio Scola she wrote, arranged and recorded many songs in her home recording studio called Room Studio Productions.

Between 2010 and 2014 together with Sergio Scola she wrote, produced and directed three music videos, which showed her visual talent.

In 2015 she began performing in clubs/theatres in Italy and abroad.
Later on she attended The International Music Fair (FIM 2018) and began promoting THE CURLS music on the radio and on television.

She is passionately fond of cinema, art, photography and literature.
